About Us

Our story

IN MEMORY OF DORCAS LUNDAMBUYU LEWANIKA, WHO RULED KALABO AS MBOAJIKANA 1959 – 1995

Her Royal Highness Dorcas Lundambuyu Lewanika who ruled as Mboajikana in Kalabo District from 1959 to 1995 was my maternal grandmother.

My primary education started at Libonda Primary School, in Kalabo alongside my siblings whilst we were under her care. We were given the benefit of a good education and I watched my grandmother undertake the responsibility of educating children from vulnerable households; something I did not understand as a child at the time, but it did not stop me from observing and being awe-struck by this amazing strong woman.

As an adult having benefited from a good Government education, my desire is to emulate the example set by my grandmother by continuing her legacy in two ways:

Firstly, to make access to schooling a right for every child in the district through the Dorcus Lundambuyu Lewanika Scholarship named to honour her legacy, and secondly, to empower women and the youth with skills to enable them to improve their livelihoods through the Kutwano Empowerment fund.

I alone, cannot save the world, but with the help of our many generous supporters, we can together, try and save at least some small part of the world by giving back to society.

Our background
